Kevin is a Glasgow-based composer who writes primarily for acoustic instrumental forces. His works have been performed by Psappha Ensemble, Glasgow New Music Expedition, Ensemble Móbile, Oregon Bach Festival Composers’ Symposium Guest Artists, TaiHei Ensemble, The Hermes Experiment, and Ensemble Okeanos.
In 2017, Kevin graduated from the University of Glasgow with an MMus in composition by research, completed under the supervision of Professor Bill Sweeney and Dr. Jane Stanley. He is currently undertaking doctoral studies with Jane Stanley.
Kevin has a keen interest in music education and has participated in projects at both primary and secondary school level. During his master’s, Kevin worked closely with his supervisor to implement a composition mentoring scheme for students from Glasgow secondary schools. This programme has since become an undergraduate course, for which he is now a graduate teaching assistant.
The promotion of postgraduate practice and research in music is also important to Kevin. Since 2015, he has been involved with Sound Thought, an annual postgraduate-run festival of music and sound research, composition, and performance. He facilitated the premiere of four new works by Glasgow New Music Expedition for the 2016 festival. Kevin was the committee chair for Sound Thought 2017, which marked the tenth anniversary of the festival.
