Gareth Wood was born in Cilfynydd Wales in 1950. For many years he was a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra but now spends his time composing. He has written mainly brass band and wind band music, including fanfares for the Queen and Prince Andrew. He has been involved with the R.A.M. Harp Ensemble for many years, writing many pieces for them. He has also written three concertos for double bass as well as a sonata and three quintets. His horn trio is receiving its first performance at the Swaledale Festival in June.
